The Stevens Center

Formerly serving as a silent movie theatre, today, The Stevens Center is the primary performance space for the North Carolina School of the Arts, and it offers a wide variety of events, concerts, and performances, throughout the year.

 

Old Salem

One cannot visit a city and leave without knowing something about its history! This historical and popular attraction reveals Winston-Salem’s background, recreating household activities and trades from the 18th and 19th centuries, especially showcasing the Moravian culture that settled this area. There are many museum shops on site, as well as a restaurant, a tavern, a children’s museum and a bakery.

 

Historic Bethabara Park

This 175-acre historic park is dedicated to presenting the history of the religious sect that settled this village in 1753, featuring a reconstructed church, interesting archaeological sites, Moravian costumed guides, Colonial gardens, an entirely reconstructed village, and a great visitor center where this historical journey, back in time, starts, with the showing of an introductory video.

 

Festivals&Fairs

Another great and fun way to find out more about Winston-Salem’s history is by participating in the city’s Annual Spring Festival, which is held every year, at Old Salem Children’s Museum. This fun and entertaining event, is considered to be a great way to spend a family day out and learn something about the city, as well, in the process. Every year, the festival has a different theme, past festivals focusing on wool and fleece in an area, as well as local pottery, art, and farming.
