Sports & outdoor events

The Valpo Mini Marathon, which was held on April 11, in 2009, has grown into the hearts of Valparaiso residents, quickly becoming a very much-expected annual spring tradition.

The course of the marathon takes hundreds of runners, annually, on a mostly flat and fast course, with a few small hills, added just to make the race more interesting, through the city streets of Valparaiso, Valpo's campus and tree-lined city parks, revealing some of the city's most beautiful and scenic features.

Due to its springtime race date, Valpo Mini is considered to be a warm-up run for the much larger Chicago Marathon. Unfortunately, the 2010 Valpo Mini has been canceled, but organizers promise that the 2011 Valpo Mini will be `bigger and better than ever`!
