It's a great way to get a little exercise and it will save you time, because the traffic can get a little stressful, especially during rush hour. There are car rental companies, spread all over the city, offering convenient fares, starting from $35.
By Train
The ACE trains start to operate around 4 am, running from San Jose to Stockton, with stops including Santa Clara, Fremont and Pleasanton.
The university is located at approximately 2 hours (by car) from Oakland International Airport. There are 9 Stockton exits on Interstate 5, including the March Lane exit.
If you're driving south from Sacramento, turn left on the March Lane exit, and if you are driving north from San Francisco or Los Angeles, make a right.
Drive for 1.5 miles, east, on March Lane, until Pacific Avenue, and then turn right. Drive south, on Pacific Avenue, for about 1 mile and you will be able to see Burn Tower, the largest building on campus, as you cross the bridge, then make a right at the next stop light and that's it.
