Hospital Hill Run Half Marathon, 10K and 5K, June 5, 2010
This popular annual run is nicknamed `grandfather of all Kansas City road races`, due to the hilly and challenging course on which the runners are taken.
This year, the race will be celebrating its 37th edition, and as always, will take hundreds of enthusiastic runners on a long, narrow, loop course, on a mostly north-south route, through the tree-lined parks and downtown city streets, along the way, passing through Hyde Park, Gillham Park, Brookside Park and Penn Valley Park, revealing some of the most scenic areas in Kansas City.
This event is sponsored by the University of Missouri-Kansas City Medical School, and despite the fact that it has one of the most challenging courses of all road races in the state, it is also considered to be among the most popular annual sporting events in the city’s area.
Each year, several charities use the race as a fundraiser for their organizations, this year, among the charities that will benefit from the race, being the HHT Foundation International, Girls on the Run – Johnson County, Heartstrings Community Foundation and Jackson County CASA, as well as NSCIA (National Spinal Cord Injury Association) and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
