Visit the Friends Of Benjamin Banneker Historical Park & Museum, which can be found on Oella Avenue, which is a memorial museum dedicated to Benjamin Banneker, a free African American astronomer, mathematician, surveyor, almanac author and farmer.

 

Spend a fun day out in the nature with family or friends, at Patapsco Valley State Park, situated on Baltimore National Pike, in Ellicott City, which is only 8 minutes by car, from Catonsville.

 

Taste a bit of the local history by visiting the Ellicott City B & O Railroad, situated on Maryland Avenue, one of the oldest remaining passenger train station in the United States, and one of the oldest in the world.

 

Have fun at the AMF Westview Bowling Center, which can be found on Baltimore National Pike.

The Catonsville Fall Into Fitness, which consists of a 5k run, a 10k run and a 5k fun walk, has been a local annual tradition for more than 10 years now.

 

The event is held in late September, and it is dedicated to provide a healthy, outdoor activity for the whole family.

 

The pleasant fall weather is another great feature of this fun and entertaining event, which draws competitive runners, fitness runners and walkers, bringing them together for a friendly competition filled with exercise, live music, dancing and good time.

 

Due to the fact that the event has attracted a much larger number of enthusiasts, year after year, in 2010 more than 1000 participants are expected to attend.

Festivals

The biggest, favorite and most popular of Catonsville's annual celebrations is considered to be the Arts & Crafts Festival, which will be celebrating its 37th edition, in September 2010.

 

In 1969, the first year of this fabulous, fun and entertaining event, more than 50 artists, weavers, ceramists and wood carvers have participated, today, the event consisting in hundreds of artists and crafts vendors who receive judges' awards, also offering visitors many fun family-friendly attractions and activities, such as interesting and educational exhibits regarding health, schools, parks, churches, gardens and many other.
