If you plan to drive you way around in Denver, this is what you should know: the city is primarily served by I-25 and I-70. The intersection of the 2 interstates is locally nicknamed `the mousetrap`, because, from the air, the junction resemble mice in a large trap.

 

Most of the downtown streets run northeast-southwest and northwest-southeast, the NW-SE streets being numbered, while the NE-SW streets are named. All roads in the downtown grid system are streets. The roads outside that system, which travel east/west, are avenues and the ones that head north and south are streets. Most streets outside of the area between Broadway and Colorado Boulevard are organized alphabetically from the city's center.
