Polk County Museum, located in the old North Ward elementary school building, in built 1903, featuring objects and documents touching on area history, the exhibits occupying thirteen rooms and areas on three floors of the old school building. The most ancient man-made objects in the Museum's collections are arrowheads, tomahawk blades, and hide scrapers that date back as much as 10,000 years with the appearance here of the First Americans.

Ella Carothers Dunnegan Gallery of Art, located at 511 N. Pike, across from North Ward School Museum, offering free art exhibits, which can be seen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between 1 and 4 pm.

Dunnegan Memorial Park, on the north side of Bolivar, equipped with pavilions, rest rooms, picnic tables, and playground equipment plus a small lake populated with ducks, geese, and peacocks, providing the perfect outdoor setting for visitors to spend a fun day out in the nature with friends or families.

Annual Events

The Celebration of Freedom, which is a 4th of July celebration, is considered to be Bolivar's premier annual event. It is a fun-filled, patriotic celebration, held every July, on SBU campus, and includes a major fireworks display, entertainment and good times. The event is free and open to the public, and it is considered a definitely ''must'' for all Bolivar visitors.
