Augusta has attractions to offer for every taste, age and budget, ranging from fabulous museums to outdoor recreational activities, and everything in between. Among the most popular attractions in Augusta, there are:

National Science Center, the place where learning takes a fun turn! The National Science Center is a place where the little ones can learn new things, play, and make friends.

Morris Museum of Art, located on the Riverwalk, overlooking the Savannah River, at 1 Tenth Street, in downtown Augusta, home to a vast collection of interesting art works. Guided tours of the museum's permanent collection are available every Sunday afternoon. The museum galleries are located on the second floor of the Augusta Riverfront Center.

Augusta Museum of History, perhaps, the perfect attraction in Augusta to visit in order to find out more about the city, the museum featuring exhibits that tell the city's story from the very beginning until the present days. The museum's permanent collection features slave-made pottery and other artifacts from the Antebellum era, including a 12-pounder bronze Napoleon Cannon tube and a reconstructed, 56-foot Petersburg Boat, among other hyighlights.

Annual Events

Augusta's Annual Westobou Festival, which happens in September, is a 10-day celebration of art, in all its forms, featuring an array of local, regional and nationally-known performances in the areas of dance, theater, music, and visual arts, that showcase the area's wealth of artistic talent. In 2010, the festival is scheduled on September 16 through 25, and will encompass downtown Augusta, GA, Augusta State University, Paine College, and North Augusta, SC.
