The Annual Save the Light Half Marathon & 5k Run/Walk, happening in February, is held for benefiting the Save The Light Inc., a non-profit organization of which purpose is to raise money to prevent and restore the Morris Island Lighthouse, considered to be one of South Carolina's maritime heritage landmarks.

 

 

The 5k run is happening along the city streets of Folly Beach, situated just outside the historical tourist destination of Charleston City, attracting hundreds of runners each year.

 

 

The run is actually more like a scenic tour along the gorgeous beach houses, offering amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean during almost the entire distance of the race.
