Clemson, SC
Clemson has something fun to offer for all ages and preferences!
Whether you're an outdoor or an indoor person, whether you're into history or art, while visiting Clemson, you will certainly not get bored - you won't have time to, 'cause there are more than sufficient great attractions to visit, in and nearby the city, among the most popular and favorite ones being:
- South Carolina State Botanical Gardens, featuring 295 acres of natural landscapes, display gardens, and miles of streams and nature trails, described by many people as a place where nature and culture meets. Visitors can explore display gardens, hike nature trails, visit the Geology Museum, peruse the Art Gallery, or just relax and enjoy the 295 acres of natural beauty. The Garden is open every day, dawn to dusk, free of charge.
- Rudolph E Lee Gallery, which can be found at Clemson University campus, offering art-loving-visitors exhibits that showcase the work of undergraduate and graduate art, architecture and landscape architecture students as they complete their courses of study. The exhibits are available for viewing, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., daily, except on Fridays and weekends.
- The historic Hanover House, which can be found on Clemson University's campus, as well, built in 1716 for French Huguenot Paul de St. Julien in Berkeley County, today serving as a museum, featuring 18th and 19th century period artifacts, the house being restored as a monument of early French Huguenot colonial structure, interpreting the lifestyles of Lowcountry South Carolina. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and it is considered being one of the most favorite local attractions.
- Clemson University's Clemson Experimental Forest, consisting of 17,500 acres of natural beauty, dedicated to education, research and demonstration in order to better understand and manage forest resources for the benefit of society.
- The gorgeous Issaqueena Falls, a nearly 200-foot cascade on Cane Creek in the Stumphouse Tunnel Park northwest of Walhalla. Behind the breathtaking beauty of the cascade there is also a legend, which goes something like this: an Indian maiden, named Issaqueena, rode to the nearby fort to warn of a pending Indian attack and then escaped from pursuing Indians by pretending to leap to her death over the falls, but actually hiding beneath them. The cascade was later named in her honor.
