Public Transportation:

 

Bus

 

Asheville Transit System, operated by the city of Asheville, provides the public bus transportation service, offering several bus lines which connect parts of the city and surrounding areas. Outside of the downtown area, the bus service is regular but infrequent and most of the people say that, within the downtown limits, walking is almost always faster. The buses run from Monday through Saturday, between 6:00 am and 11:30 pm and the bus fares are as follows: $1 for adults and $0.50 for seniors and handicapped individuals.

 

Rail

 

Although Norfolk Southern Railway passes through the city, the passenger rail service is currently not available in the area. The closest Amtrak station is in Greenville, SC or Spartanburg, SC.

 

Car

 

According to previous visitors, a car is definitely your best bet, when it comes to easily get around in Asheville. Street parking is metered, from Monday to Saturday, between 8 am and 6 pm, at $1 per hour. On Sundays, street parking is free of charge, including on evenings, and official city holidays. In addition to garage and street parking, there are also several parking lots available, throughout the downtown area.

From Asheville Regional Airport: Head southwest, toward Co Rd 1420/Westfelt Road and continue straight onto Co Road 1420/Westfelt Road. Continue to follow Westfelt Road and turn left at Co Road 3526/Old Fanning Bridge Road. Continue onto State Hwy 280 and turn left at N Carolina 280 E/Boylston Hwy. Continue to follow N Carolina 280 E and turn left, to merge onto I-26 W/US-74 W, toward Asheville. Continue to follow I-26 W and take exit 4A, on the left, to merge onto I-26 W/US-19 N/US-23 N/US-70 W, toward Unc Asheville/Weavervillie. Take exit 25, toward N Carolina 251/University of North Carolina/Asheville and turn right at Broadway Street. Take the 1st left onto Campus Dr. and turn right toward University Heights. Turn left at University Heights.
