Visit the Pioneer Park Nature Center, on the SW section of the Pioneers Park, where you can enjoy 5 miles of nature trails, including indoor and outdoor exhibits which imitate the natural habitat of various animal species.

Sports & outdoor events

The Annual Lincoln National Guard Marathon & Half - Marathon, which happens in May, is perhaps one of the most popular annual sporting events in Lincoln.

 

The Marathon is a run on a city-wide course that starts and ends on the UNL campus, which is open to all properly trained runners. However, the Marathon runners must be at least 12 years old, and all participants must be able to complete the course within 6 hours.

 

Festivals

There are plenty of fun, entertaining celebrations which are held throughout the year, all over Nebraska, such as the Wisner St. Patrick's Day Parade, taking place in March, in Wisner, the Spring Festival, Arts & Crafts Affair, which happens in Omaha, in April, the Carnival Days, taking place in Petersburg, in June, the Wahoo Country Music Show, held in Wahoo, also happening in June, as well as many other well appreciated annual events, by locals and foreign visitors, alike.
