Sports & outdoor events

The Maryland Half Marathon, which happens in May, in Timonium, located approximately 3 hours by car from Princess Anne, is perhaps one of the most popular and favorite annual sporting events in the state.

The out-and-back course of the marathon takes runners on a mixture of flat stretches and some significant hills, along entirely paved surfaces.

The first 2 miles of the course are mostly uphill, continuing around the northern end of the club grounds and onto Marys Chapel Road, the final miles of the race featuring a gradual uphill toward the finish line back at the fairgrounds.

In the 2010 edition of the marathon, 100% of all net proceeds are going to the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center. The entering fee for the race is $75 and additional donations are encouraged.
