The Cornfest Race, which will take place on August 21, in 2010, is perhaps one of the most popular annual sporting events in DeKalb, IL. The race will begin at the DeKalb High School, on Barb Boulevard, and will offers participants a 3 km flat and well-marked loop course, through the city streets of DeKalb.

 

The event also consists of a USATF certified 10 km course, through residential areas and a park trail, which is mostly flat and paved. Emergency care will be available along the course and at the finish line, and water stations will be located every 2 miles.

 

The Cornfest Race has been held in DeKalb, since 1981, transforming, over the years, from a local tradition to one of the most popular and favorite annual sporting events in the area. If your trip to DeKalb is in August, be sure not to miss this fun-filled fabulous event!

 

Festivals

The most popular and favorite annual celebration in DeKalb, is considered to be the Annual DeKalb Cornfest, which will be celebrating its 33rd edition on August 20th – 22nd, in 2010, at DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport. This fun and entertaining event is one of the few remaining free summer music festivals in the US state of Illinois, and it is also one of the oldest summer music festivals in the state.

 

More than 120 000 enthusiastic visitors have attended in the last year celebration, and this year, the organizers promise that the Cornfest will be the best festival among all the 2010 music festivals. The admission is free, and there are plenty of entertaining activities offered, including a colorful parade, plenty of food booths, live music, craft shows, lots of fun and many family-friendly activities. Don’t miss it!
