The 26-mile marathon is part of the Annual New Jersey Marathon Festival, which starts on April 29, and consists of a fun run through the diverse neighborhoods in Long Branch and Monmouth Beach, offering runners great scenery and an oceanfront start and finish.
Besides the personal accomplishment of finishing the marathon or the half marathon, participants also run in order to help organizers raise money for various causes and charities.
This year, the New Jersey Marathon Festival has partnered with Bosco's Buddies, of which goal is to raise awareness of Hepatitis C and Liver Diseases. All proceeds will go towards other organizations, which are helping by trying to create a cure for the devastating liver diseases, challenging athletes to raise funds by participating at the marathon.
