The Kennesaw Locomotive Half Marathon & 5K, which happens in September, has become one of the most popular and favorite annual sporting events in Kennesaw, GA.

 

This casual, tree-lined, well-marked roadway run, takes walkers and runners on an out-and-back course, which starts and finishes at the Cobb Place, just a few miles from the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, where the Civil War battle with the same name took place, in 1864.

 

Even though, in 2010, the Kennesaw Locomotive Half Marathon will be celebrating its 2nd edition, it appears to quickly grow in both size and popularity, becoming one of the most favorite running events for enthusiast from all over the region.

 

Festivals

One of the most popular and beautiful annual celebrations that happen in Kennesaw is considered to be the Big Shanty Festival, which will be celebrating its 34th edition on April 17 and 18, in 2010, taking place in downtown Kennesaw, featuring lots of festivals-like `treats`, including food booths, arts and crafts booths, all kinds of entertainment, and best of all: it's free. More than 50 000 visitors are attracted to Kennesaw, annually, by this fabulous, fun event, which also features all types of fun activities for the little ones.

 

You might want to consider planning your trip in April, 'cause the Big Shanty Festival is considered a `must`, when visiting Kennesaw.

 

Nightlife

Yes, it's true! Kennesaw's nightlife scene is not as thriving or as appealing as in other much larger cities in Georgia, but there are a few places where you and your friends can have a drink or two and enjoy yourselves, and if you take the time to look or ask around, you might even find a great club where you can dance the night away and leave the worries behind.
