Sports & outdoor events

 

The Annual Breeze Against Wheeze, celebrating its 9th edition, in May, 2010, is perhaps one of the most popular annual sporting events in Rhode Island, and it is happening in Providence, 20 minutes away, by car, from Smithfield.

 

The event consists of a 5k run and a 3k walk which take runners through the most scenic and beautiful areas in Providence, around Brown University campus and over to Blackstone.

 

The proceeds are used to benefit various charity organizations or causes, each year the race raising 25% of the Hasbro Children's Hospital's Asthma Camp total costs.
