Getting around in Muncie, IN

The city has an excellent public bus transportation system, provided by MITS (Muncie Indiana Transit System), which was named in 2005 and again in 2008, an `Outstanding Public Transportation System` by the American Public Transportation Association. MITS offers travelers 15 fixed routes within the limits of Muncie City, to most medical, shopping, recreational and governmental locations. The MITS buses operate daily, from Monday to Saturday, except several holidays. The service is free for school faculty and staff, students and children, half-priced for senior citizens and $0.50 for adults.

From Indianapolis: Take I-69 North to Muncie Exit 41, also known as Indiana State Road 332. Follow the State Road 332 to get into Muncie, until you get to Tillotson Avenue, where you have to make a right. Continue driving on Tillotson until you get to Bethel Avenue and than turn left.

 

From Fort Wayne: Take I-69 South to Muncie Exhit 41. Proceed on Indiana State Road 332 to arrive in Muncie, and make a right on Tillotson Avenue. Continue driving until you get to Bethel Avenue and make a left.

 

From Ohio: Take I-70 west to Richmond. Take the U.S. Highway 35, which is Exit 149, and proceed north to Muncie. Take the Muncie bypass to McGalliard Road (Indiana State Road 332). Make a left on McGalliard and drive for about 5 miles until you get to Tillotson Avenue, where you have to turn left. Proceed on Tillotson until you get to Bethel Avenue and make a left again.

 

From Cincinnati: Take I-74 W to Greensburg Exit 134 (Indiana State Road 3). Follow it north to the Muncie bypass, and than continue driving until you get to McGalliard Road. Make a left on McGalliard and go 5 miles to Tillotson Avenue. Make a left here. Drive on Tillotson until you get to Bethel Avenue and make a left again.

 

From Chicago: Take I-65 S to Lafayette exit 172, which is Indiana State Road 26, and follow it east to Fairmount. Take I-69 S to Muncie Exit 41, which is State Road 332. Follow it E into Muncie and make a right on Tillotson Avenue. Drive until you get to Bethel Avenue and make a left.
